Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry
This was the second of a projected five phase redevelopment of Altnagelvin Hospital in Northern Irelands’ second city, Thornton Roofing having already completed works on Phase1 which houses the Laboratories and pharmacy. This building incorporates the most up to date roofing and cladding systems available in terms of aesthetics and for longevity and durability. The introduction of green roof on this project help to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the building.
Products used on this project : 4100m2 of built up felt roofs to tapered insulation board, which was then overlaid with a combination of paving flags gravel and extensive sedum green roofs on various levels.
1500m2 of built up Rigidal aluminium standing seam roofing onto two curved plantrooms. The 700m2 of vertical to the plantrooms are cloaked in an alluminium louvre blade system and a silver Kingspan MR panel , All verges and aluminium soffits are polyester powder coated aluminium, manufactured in-house in our own fabrication facility.
Curved PPC aluminium Bullnose systems at the main public entrances.
Fall arrest systems to all roofs and rainscreens.
Rainwater systems installed throughout the building.
